Case study · Firewall and Wi-Fi

A protected network for a seafood plant

Seafood processor
Firewall and Wi-Fi, one site

Metro Manila, Philippines

Overview

A seafood processor in Metro Manila engaged LMI to put a protected firewall and Wi-Fi network in place for its plant. The work was accepted in March 2025.

LMI set up separate access for each group of users, secure remote access to servers and protection on every enrolled device, then tested it all before handover.

4managed devices at one site: a firewall, a switch and two Wi-Fi access points
35endpoint protection licenses loaded
2internet connections brought under one firewall

The challenge

  • Different users on one site: staff, VIP users and IoT devices each need their own rules
  • Two internet connections to bring under one firewall
  • Staff who need to reach servers securely from outside
  • Devices that need protection, not just the network edge

The result

  • Server access over the VPN tested and passed
  • Addressing and server access tested across every network segment
  • LAN and Wi-Fi speed tests met the policy set
  • Endpoint protection set to Protect on every enrolled device

On recordSigned acceptance test, overall result Passed.

How LMI solved it

  1. 1Design

Planned the internet connections, network segments and who can reach what.

  2. 2Configure

Set up the firewall with both internet connections, addressing, segments, group policies and traffic shaping.

  3. 3Protect

Turned on threat protection, loaded endpoint protection licenses, and set up a client VPN and Wi-Fi sign-in.

  4. 4Test and hand over

Tested VPN access, segments, addressing and speeds, then a signed acceptance test and certificate.

Site challenge

  1. 1Different users needed different rules.
  2. 2Two internet lines had to work together.
  3. 3Protection had to reach every device, not just the firewall.
  4. 4Every segment was tested, not just the main network.

  4. Main, VIP and IoT

Verified at handover

  • Server access over the client VPN
  • Server access and addressing across all network segments
  • Laptops, PCs and mobiles connect
  • Group policies and traffic shaping applied for different users
  • LAN and Wi-Fi speed tests meet the policy set
  • Endpoint protection installed on enrolled devices and set to Protect
  • Wi-Fi users connect and sign in as configured
