Network refresh across five factories

Agro-industrial group
Digital transformation toward smart factories

Luzon and the Visayas, Philippines

Overview

A large Philippine agro-industrial group is digitalizing its factories, working toward smart factories. Between 2023 and 2026 it engaged LMI to refresh the network at five of its factories.

LMI mapped the networks, designed a structured replacement and rebuilt it, migrating in the evenings while the plants kept running.

5factories
8new backbone links at one factory
20distribution points traced and documented at one factory

Before

  • Old, unstructured network
  • Fiber and cabling unlabeled and poorly maintained
  • Frequent broadcast storms
  • No network diagram to work from

After

  • A mapped, structured and labeled network
  • No more broadcast storms
  • Faster internet access
  • Faults easier to trace and resolve

On recordClient acceptance recorded at all five factories.

Before and after points are reported by the LMI project team.

How LMI solved it

  1. 1Map

Mapped each network and drew the diagram from scratch.

  2. 2Design

Designed a structured layout to resolve the faults.

  3. 3Build

Fiber backbone, managed switching, structured cabling and UPS power.

  4. 4Migrate and prove

Cut over in the evenings, then tested the fiber and network and signed off.

Site challenge

  1. 1No diagram existed to start from.
  2. 2Existing fiber was unlabeled: 20 distribution points to trace and tag at one factory.
  3. 3Work at height and inside plant process areas.
  4. 4The plants run around the clock.

Verified at handover

  • Fiber continuity, OTDR and fiber-loss tests passed
  • End-to-end connectivity confirmed
  • Stable network with no abnormal packet loss
  • All eight new backbone links complete at the broadest-scope factory
  • Fiber routes retraced, verified and documented

What you get with LMI

Digital transformation requires solid infrastructure.

Every new system depends on the infrastructure beneath it. LMI builds that foundation so your team can find it, maintain it and trust it.

A network you can see

LMI maps your network and draws the diagram, even when none exists.

ProofDone from scratch on this project.

Fits your production

Cutover happens in the evenings, outside office hours, to avoid disrupting operations.

ProofThe plants run around the clock.

Faults you can find and fix

Labeled cables and an up-to-date diagram mean a fault can be traced and resolved.

ProofCables labeled; diagram drawn from scratch.

Confidence at handover

Fiber is tested, routes are documented, and your team signs the acceptance test before handover.

ProofSigned acceptance at all five factories.
